Get in touchWe start by reviewing your case to confirm the type of judgment or order you hold and whether it can be enforced via a High Court writ. If you currently have a County Court Judgment (CCJ), we’ll advise on transferring it up so it can be enforced using a High Court Writ of Control. We’ll also discuss the most suitable enforcement route based on the debtor’s circumstances and what outcome you need.
Once the route is confirmed, we prepare the required High Court paperwork and manage the transfer process where applicable. We’ll also guide you through the expected court fees and timings so you know what to expect. Our aim is to get your application processed efficiently and without avoidable delays.
After the application is submitted, we chase the court where appropriate to keep the process moving. Once issued, the writ gives legal authority for enforcement action to begin. This is the point at which High Court enforcement becomes active and actionable.
When the writ is in place, the High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO) can contact the debtor and, if necessary, attend in person to take control of assets to satisfy the debt and enforcement costs. This may include assets such as vehicles, equipment, and other goods, provided they belong to the debtor.

If you still need a Possession Order, the quickest cases can take around 4–6 weeks, but it depends heavily on the County Court. If you already have a Possession Order (and permission to transfer up where required), we can usually obtain a Writ of Possession within around 14 days – sometimes as quickly as 7 days. In slower cases, it can take up to 2 months, depending on the High Court processing times.
A High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO) is an officer of the High Court of England and Wales, authorised to enforce certain types of court judgments. These include County Court Judgments (CCJs) over £600, possession orders, employment tribunal awards, and more. Once a judgment is transferred to the High Court, an HCEO can act on behalf of the claimant to recover money or property. Unlike County Court bailiffs, HCEOs have greater powers and flexibility, allowing them to act more quickly and effectively.
