The Situation

Strikes Property Services Group was instructed to attend an industrial site in Sheffield where an unauthorised encampment of 10 caravans had been established. The initial attendance was required to serve notices, explain the requirement to leave the site and document the situation.

The team approached the encampment and spoke directly with the travellers, who stated that they planned to leave the following day. Notices needed to be served and displayed on site before a return visit was scheduled.

The client has been using our services for over 12 years now, and had no hesitation in contacting us again.

Our Approach

Two enforcement agents attended the site at 2:30pm. They approached the encampment and spoke with the travellers about the situation and their stated intention to leave the following day.

The agents handed the notices directly to the travellers and attached additional notices in the area. Photographs were taken to record the notices and the site during the attendance. The team then left the site at 2:55pm.

The team arranged a return visit for the following morning. Four enforcement agents attended at 7:00am to carry out the planned eviction. On arrival, they found that the travellers had already left the site. The office was informed of the situation, and the team departed at 7:15am.

Outcome

When the enforcement team returned the following morning, the site had been vacated. No further eviction action was required during that attendance.

The case demonstrates how Strikes Property Services Group approaches traveller encampments through direct communication, the serving and display of notices, photographic records and a planned follow-up visit. In this instance, the travellers had left before the enforcement team returned.
