The Situation
Strikes Property Services Group was asked to attend an encampment in Bradford, where two people were sleeping in tents on a grassed area close to a commercial premises and a main road.
Our enforcement agents arrived early in the morning and documented the encampment with photographs. The occupants were asleep when the team arrived, and it took some time to make contact with them. They explained that they needed a little time to arrange transport and remove their belongings.
The situation required a measured approach, balancing the need to clear the area with the practical arrangements needed for the occupants to leave and take their possessions with them.
After searching for rough sleeper removal services in Bradford, the client contacted Strikes Property Services Group
Our Approach
Our two enforcement agents began by speaking with the occupants and discussing arrangements for them to leave the site. The occupants explained that transport was being arranged, and our team allowed them time to organise this and start packing their belongings.
Through continued communication and persuasion, the occupants eventually left their tent and began dismantling the encampment. A family member arrived later that morning to assist with transport. Following a further visit, the occupants removed their belongings from the site.
Throughout the attendance, our agents kept a photographic record of the encampment and the items remaining after the occupants had left. They also spoke with the premises manager to explain the outcome and confirm the position before leaving.
Outcome
The occupants left the area and removed their belongings. One tent containing bin liners remained and was photographed, with disposal identified as a further requirement.
Our agents completed their attendance at 12:30pm, after five and a half hours on site. The premises manager was updated, and a record of the remaining items was retained.
The case demonstrated the importance of a calm, practical approach to rough sleeper removal. By allowing time for transport arrangements, encouraging the occupants to pack their possessions and documenting the condition of the site, the team brought the attendance to a clear conclusion.
The case was managed by Chris Bane, Janet Morris and Roy Bennett, supporting a coordinated and professional approach to the operation.
