The Situation

Strikes Property Services Group was contacted by the client to assist with the removal of a traveller encampment at their commercial site in Rotherham. The site was being used as a police training centre, and the client required the travellers to vacate the property to allow police access.

The encampment consisted of two large caravans and two vehicles (a red transit van and a white Toyota Hilux), blocking the entrance to the property. The client needed a compliant, non-confrontational route to regain control of the site and ensure the travellers vacated quickly.

After searching for traveller eviction services in Rotherham, the client contacted Strikes Property Services Group.

Our Approach

Strikes Property Enforcement Group agents arrived on-site at 11:00am, where they were met by a dog handler observing the site. The travellers were initially resistant, stating that they would not leave until a few days later. Our agents informed them that this was not an option and began to observe the encampment while continuing dialogue with the travellers.

Despite repeated conversations, the travellers insisted on waiting until the evening. Enforcement agents explained the need for the site to be vacated due to the police training centre, which eventually prompted one of the travellers to negotiate, agreeing to leave later that evening.

At 4:00pm, the main traveller left the site. At 5:15pm, one of the caravans was hitched up to the Toyota Hilux, and Strikes Property Service Group remained on-site to monitor the situation.

At 7:00pm, the main traveller returned, informing Strikes agents that they would move the remaining caravan and return for the second caravan once the transit van’s tow bar was ready. By 7:40pm, both caravans had been moved.

Strikes Property Services Group secured the gates with new padlocks, handed the keys to the security team on-site, and left the premises at 7:50pm.

Outcome

The traveller encampment was cleared, and the commercial site was secured by evening. Strikes Property Services Group ensured a smooth process with no further escalation, successfully returning the property to the client.
